CATS also provides a number of value added services in addition to our core claims services
Whether it's recovering data, salvaging to offset against the claim, recycling in line with the WEEE directive, loaning equipment subject to policy cover, identifying both physical & virtual security threats, auditing your supply chain members, advising on policy wording or validating costs outside of a claim.
01
Data Recovery
Recovery
Recovery costs will vary depending on the data storage device type, size of data needed to be recovered and the extent of damage to the device. Assessing the possibility of recovery is free in most cases. Authority to proceed with the recovery will be sought once costs are known before proceeding. All data is treated in the strictest confidence regardless of whether this is policyholders' personal data, claims or policy information. We are fully compliant with the Data Protection Act and as such are registered with the Information Commissioners Office. Our registration number is Z9353723. All storage devices that cannot be recovered are destroyed and disposed of in line with the WEEE directive.
Data Transfer
Our engineers will transfer some data for free, assuming the storage device is undamaged and the data can be transferred to an alternative device with relative ease. If the data is more difficult to access or is time-consuming to transfer, a charge may apply. We may offer to put data onto a separate storage device like a hard drive for a nominal fee. If transfer is not possible then data recovery will be offered as an alternative service.

Salvage & Recycling
Recover value from damaged items and ensure you are compliant
Quite often there is residual value in written-off equipment or equipment that has been deemed uneconomical to repair. CATS can recover salvage as a way of further minimising claims spend.
Equally, there is legislation that requires raw materials that make up computer equipment to be disposed of in an appropriate manner. We have the means of disposing of such equipment safely and in line with government regulations such as the WEEE directive.
01
Loan Equipment
Minimising business interruption and policyholder downtime.
Whilst the policyholder is waiting on equipment to be reinstated or repaired we can provide temporary equipment to help avoid business interruption claims, subject to policy cover.
Our nationwide loan equipment service enables policyholders to regain I.T. functionality. This service is especially valuable for those who rely on technology to run their business.
We also have a number of sites around the UK that provide temporary trading locations to aid with business continuity.

Vulnerability Audit
Identify both physical and virtual security threats as well as other supplier's capabilities. Reduce the claim risk and get the best deal from your supply chain.
Vulnerability audit
Identifying both physical and virtual security threats to businesses aids with claim prevention. We can provide a risk assessment survey to identify physical security risks by analysing alarm systems and door locks for example, to see how easy it is to access computer-related equipment. We can also provide an assessment of virtual security threats from viruses and hackers. Loss of data and cybercrime can cost insurers dearly. We can help you minimise the risk.
Supply chain audit
Retrospectively auditing I.T. suppliers can prove difficult. Prices today may differ from prices yesterday due to the speed of technological change and due to market conditions. We will ensure you always have access to accurate product information and the best price. We can validate both costs today and also costs retrospectively.

Policy Assistance
Advice on policy wording and claim prevention
Policy wording can often contribute towards repeat claims. Policy wording can be grey sometimes.
CATS experience has helped to reduce future claims spend by recommending policy amendments to underwriters.
Such recommendations have reduced the necessity for policyholders having to claim.

Metadata Analysis
Examine documents, images & videos to identify fraud
CATS can analyse documents, images or videos to confirm validity and have the tools and expertise to identify potential fraud.
We are confirming true creation dates, whether any documents have been doctored and the location of images or video taken.
This service relates to both technology equipment being claimed for and non-technology related items.
