A common problem loss adjusters encounter is the issue of overspend when it comes to replacing laptops, PCs, mobile phones, and other technology equipment.

When one loss adjuster’s policyholder made a claim for the replacement of several Mac PCs, we were asked to validate the claim. Our adjusted spend saved the loss adjuster upwards of £3000.

A major issue for loss adjusters responding to suggested replacements by policyholders is a lack of experience with the technology in question. In this case, the loss adjuster lacked the expertise to validate if the suggested replacements were like-for-like, or if the price of the replacements was reasonable. Market research looked at comparable sale prices, but these only told part of the story.

Our experts were able to assess the claim from all angles, judging whether the suggested replacements were comparable to the original equipment in specifications and functions, and whether replacements could be sourced for less without sacrificing quality or policyholder satisfaction.

Our solution not only saved the loss adjuster significant value, it ensured that the policyholder received replacements which were able to perform the same necessary tasks as the original equipment.
